Republican David Schweikert secured his eighth term in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, defeating Democratic challenger Amish Shah. The district, including north Phoenix and Scottsdale, showed signs of shifting left but remained in GOP hands. Despite ethics scandals, Schweikert’s stance on government debt maintained his voter base. Shah, an ER doctor, focused on affordable housing and healthcare but couldn’t unseat the incumbent.
Elsewhere, Democrat Greg Stanton won reelection in Arizona’s 4th District, while Republican Juan Ciscomani faced a tight race in the 6th District, which remains undecided.
