Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), the GOP’s vice presidential candidate, asserted in a Sunday interview that former President Trump definitely has a plan to overhaul American health care. Vance explained that Trump’s strategy focuses on deregulating the insurance market to offer people more tailored plan options.

During the interview with NBC News’s Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press,” Vance elaborated that Trump’s approach aims to address the issues with Obamacare while ensuring people retain good choices for their health care needs.

This statement follows a recent debate where Trump mentioned he would manage Obamacare as effectively as possible but admitted he doesn’t have a specific replacement plan at the moment, only “concepts.” Despite his previous efforts to dismantle Obamacare, Trump has expressed a commitment to improving it if a better, more cost-effective alternative can be found.

Vance defended Trump’s approach, highlighting that Trump chose to build on the existing Obamacare framework rather than dismantle it entirely. He described this as reflective of Trump’s broader governing philosophy.

In the Sunday interview, Vance also outlined key components of Trump’s proposed health care plan, which includes ensuring coverage for preexisting conditions, maintaining access to necessary doctors, and pursuing a deregulatory agenda to enhance consumer choice. He emphasized that a flexible, choice-oriented system would better serve individuals than a one-size-fits-all model.
