People were left shocked after seeing the bill for a table at one of Salt Bae’s restaurants.
Many of us have been left gobsmacked when the dreaded bill arrives at the end of an evening out at a restaurant, but this is taking things to another level – especially with Salt Bae sharing a picture of the bill on Instagram to boast.
The restauranteur, whose real name is Nusret Gökçe, has built up a series of 22 restaurants after going viral for his unusual way of seasoning food.
That was one reason anyway, the other is the eye-watering cost of eating at the restaurant and the lavish way in which food is presented there.
For example, the most famous dish is the tomahawk steak which is coated in gold leaf when served to guests.
Even a simple meal is enough to easily run up a bill of thousands of dollars even without factoring in the drinks.
When you do factor in drinks, things start to move into tens of thousands potentially, with expensive champagne and even a basic pint of lager being extremely expensive.

Add into that the United Arab Emirates having a reputation for being a playground for the super rich and you have a recipe for a very high bill.
And that’s exactly what happened, with the bill posted to Instagram on the restaurant’s account coming to a staggering 615,065 UAE dirhams, the equivalent of around $167,500.
This meal, enough to buy a house in some places, consisted of water which cost around $12 a go, a beer which was nearly $15, and a negroni for $20.
It also included bottles of Petrus, a wine renowned for its high price tag, which clocked in at $27,225 a bottle.
There was also the ‘Golden Baklava’ which is, you guessed it, baklava wrapped in gold leaf. That’ll be $106 each, please.

People were left stunned and less than impressed by the price of the food and drink.
One commented: “Your restaurant and drinks are not even close to that amount. Your meat quality ain’t even as good as half the other steakhouses.
“Humble yourself buddy, all these YouTube chefs talking s*** on your brand. Get it together bud.”
Another wrote: “If a person works for a lifetime, he cannot earn this money, this meal will not make you immortal. A person who steals the rights of others can only eat this ridiculous food.”
A third person pointed out that many people are struggling through a cost of living crisis, writing: “This is disgusting to flaunt especially with the emergence of a global cost of living crisis….”
A fourth wrote: “Jesus and here I’m complaining about my $200 wagyu.”
