Elon Musk has stated that his child is “dead” to him following her transition to becoming transgender, which has drawn sharp criticism from Marlon Wayans. The actor and comedian called out Musk after the tech mogul made highly controversial remarks about his transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson.
Vivian came out in 2022 and expressed her desire to cut ties with her father completely. Wayans, who also has a transgender son, addressed the situation with a personal understanding of the matter. The difference between how the two fathers handled the situation is stark.
Appearing on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Wayans criticized Musk for his public comments, saying: “I don’t like what he’s been saying about his trans child. That made me mad. You don’t treat your children like that. You don’t disown your child. Love your child!”
Wayans further explained that while processing a child’s transition can be challenging, acceptance is crucial. He shared that it took him just a week to come to terms with it, although for some parents, it may take a lifetime, and sadly, some never reach that point. “That’s still my child. That’s my baby,” he stated proudly.
In contrast, Musk discussed his strained relationship with his daughter earlier this year with Jordan Peterson. He claimed he was “essentially tricked into signing documents” that allowed her to transition and repeatedly misgendered her, saying, “I lost my son.” Musk referred to the concept of “deadnaming” and argued, “My son is dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”
Wayans, angered by Musk’s remarks, even joked about his Tesla, saying he was “about to drive it off a cliff.”
Vivian, who was born in 2004 with her twin brother Griffin to Elon and his ex-wife, Canadian author Justine Musk, has distanced herself from her father completely.
