Mother of ballerina Michaela DePrince dies within 24 hours of daughter’s shock death

Ballet star Michaela DePrince, who rose to fame as a trailblazer in the dance world, tragically passed away on September 10. Within 24 hours, her adoptive mother, Elaine DePrince, also died.
Despite the closeness of their deaths, the family confirmed that the two were unrelated. Michaela, originally from war-torn Sierra Leone, had overcome immense challenges, including losing her biological parents and facing mistreatment in an orphanage, to become a celebrated ballerina. Elaine DePrince passed during a routine procedure on September 11, unaware of her daughter’s death. The family is enduring unimaginable grief from this double tragedy.
