The suspect in what appears to be a second assassination attempt on Donald Trump has been identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. Routh was arrested on Sunday, September 15, in connection with the incident that occurred while Trump was golfing at his West Palm Beach resort. According to authorities, a Secret Service agent spotted a rifle barrel near the golf course, leading to Routh’s arrest after he fled the scene. Officials discovered an AK-47 with a scope, backpacks, and a GoPro in the area.
Routh’s son, Oran Routh, has since spoken out in defense of his father, describing him as a loving, hardworking man who isn’t known for violent behavior. He expressed disbelief over the allegations, hoping that the situation has been exaggerated.
Oran also revealed that his father had been involved in supporting Ukraine during the conflict with Russia, even traveling to the country to witness the struggles firsthand. He contrasted this with his father’s discontent over Trump’s actions, adding frustration about Trump “sitting behind a desk” while people were suffering.
The FBI’s investigation is ongoing, and although no charges have been filed yet, the probe has expanded internationally.
