Walter Macfarlane and Alan Robinson, best friends for over 60 years, recently discovered that they are more than just friends – they’re actually brothers. The two, both from Oahu, Hawaii, have known each other since sixth grade. Over the years, they shared countless memories, playing football, cribbage, and growing up side by side.
Both men were adopted and never knew their biological fathers, leading them to have similar life experiences. Macfarlane decided to trace his family history online, hoping to find his biological father or grandfather. After taking a DNA test, he was shocked to find a match with another user, Robi737.
The surprise continued when it was revealed that Robi737 was none other than Robinson, who had taken the same DNA test years earlier in his own search for family connections. Upon further investigation, the lifelong friends realized they were biological brothers.
Now, after the initial shock, the brothers are planning to travel the world together before they retire. As Robinson told KHON, “This is the best Christmas gift I could have ever imagined.”
