Country singer Lauren Alaina has canceled her upcoming shows as she mourns the loss of her father.
The “Road Less Traveled” singer shared the heartbreaking news with her fans on social media, writing, “I really don’t have words yet.”
On Wednesday, the former American Idol contestant posted on Instagram, “We lost my dad last night, and I’m still struggling to find the right words.”
In the emotional message, Lauren informed her fans that she would not be able to perform at her scheduled shows in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte this weekend. She explained that she needed to go home to be with her family during this difficult time.
She concluded her post by expressing her gratitude for the outpouring of “prayers and understanding” from her fans.
Following her announcement, the country music community rallied around Lauren, offering their heartfelt condolences.
Country singer Jake Owen wrote, “I’m so sorry for your loss, Lauren. Sending love and strength to you and your family.”
MacKenzie Porter added, “I’m really sorry, sweetheart. We’re praying for you and your family.”
Martina McBride offered her support with the words, “Sending you so much love.”
The cause of her father’s death has not been disclosed at this time.
Before the tragic news, Lauren had been on tour with Jason Aldean.
A few weeks before her father’s passing, Lauren had posted a heartfelt Father’s Day tribute to him, calling him her “old man” with “a heart the size of Texas.”
“Happy Father’s Day to ‘my old man’ with a heart the size of Texas!!” she wrote on Instagram. “I love you so much, Daddy, and I hope you have the best day fishing.”
She signed off the post with, “Love, your turd (Pinky).”
The post was accompanied by touching photos of Lauren and her father on her wedding day, including a tearful moment captured as her father saw her in her wedding dress for the first time.
Lauren married Cam Arnold on February 4 of this year.
